What is an event? An event is a promotion held by Nintendo or The Pokémon Company where players can go out and obtain something that they would not normally get with normal game play. Some Pokémon events may have a special move like Surf on a Pikachu or be captured in the special Cherish Ball. Others may unlock things in the game like a Regigigas from the Shaymin movie that would allow you to encounter Regirock, Regice, and Registeel in Pokémon Platinum. Up until recently, all events were distributed in stores like Toys"R"Us or Pokémon Centers. Now with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, events are being distributed on a much larger scale so that anyone who might not live close enough to a store has a chance to receive the event.
